The Proposal

If I had known what I know now, I would have seen this coming…..

As many of you know, May 5th is the date Tim and I celebrate our anniversary. I expected a gift, perhaps jewelry, and dinner but nothing close to a proposal.

Tim’s surprise started with a trip down to Washington to see Julius Caesar at the Shakespeare Theater. This show, however, turned out to be a smoke screen. He really planned the trip to DC so he could ask my Dad for permission.

Sunday morning Tim whisked me away to Lancaster for an anniversary surprise. Upon arriving, he dropped me off at the mall so he could organize his surprise. I took a few spins around the mall stopping in H&M and Hollister but I was restless with anticipation. Time ticked by and it seemed like forever until he was finally ready to pick me up.

He took me to Lancaster Central Park where he had already picked a location to have a picnic. Surrounded by tall trees and beautiful flowers we ate sandwiches and fruit- taking in the wonderful afternoon weather.

After we were done, he told me we were going to play a game. He left clues for a scavenger hunt scattered around our picnic site. The clues finally took me to a park bench where I found a card that told me to sit down and close my eyes. When I opened my eyes, he was down on one knee with the ring.

I couldn’t have asked for anything more beautiful. It was perfect.
